What wwguy said also - anything oceanfront on Bonaire costs a lot more typically. Other inexpensive options are Casa Oleander/Coco Palm Garden south of town, they're across the street from the water but rent small villas very affordably. The Buddy location at Belmar is walking distance. Another option is Lagoen Hills - about 10 minutes NE of town. Also very reasonable and at one time they provided diving thru Buddy Dive also.

Blachi Koko on the south end of town has 2 1BR apts. for $95 a night. They're across the street from the Divi Flamingo. One of the few places you can walk to the restaurants downtown - some are only a block or two north. They recommend WannaDive.

Check with Carib Inn also, it's more affordable place, waterfront just south of the Divi. Bruce can fix anything if you have gear problems. Other options by price: Info Bonaire - Hotels & Accommodations - Resorts, Condos, Inns, Apartments, Houses and other accommodations

Note these prices are per unit, not per person. Diving, truck rental etc. is extra. I think you can still buy a week of unlimited shore dives for under $200. I might ala-carte boat dives, there's a couple special trips like the Buddy's Slagbaai Park excursion that I believe are even extra for their guests. We did a dive one time with Toucan Diving - to make the trip go with another couple that afternoon, they charged us $18pp. That was probably a little unusual though.

Thank you diversteve and wwguy for maps and recommendations. We are aware that Dive Paradise condos are about a block away from the water but that does not seem important as they seem to offer very competitive rates and we'll need a truck either way. Although I did not find any reviews of these condos on this forum. Another option is Casa Calexico - a bit more $$ but great reviews. Speaking of the truck reservation - should I pre-book at the airport or request a 'packaged' rate from the owners?
