Hey guys,

I just purchased a set of Aqualung legend Supreme LX ACD, and a AL Air Source,

Now my question's are

1. As i will be primarily be using the regs in warmish water (no chance of freeflow) do i need to have the IP settings changed? is it worth it? will it make the breathing noticable better?

2. Do i need to have the Air Source IP changed to match my regs? (it does mention someting about it in the manual)

Saying thanks in advance from the land down under

Bradley

Hi Bradley. The LX Supreme comes with the IP set at about 120 PSI. You can adjust it up to 140 PSI, but you are not likely to notice much difference in breathing performance. The Air Source probabaly does not need any adjustment.

Thanks for the quick reply Phil
I was thinking that its prob not worth it, maybe in 12 months when i get it serviced ill have it done while its in but otherwise not worry unless someone gives me a reason to bother.
I dont want to miss out on any big performance differences but if its only minor then meh..

I'm actually yet to use the regs my guess is that considering ive only used hire gear up untill now that the breathing effort will be way better then what im used to anyway

Thanks Brad

as long as it's in range, all is good. If it isn't stable, meaing it tends to move higher and higher, you could have very serious proplems in water.

Sorry it may be that im fairly new to all this but could you please ellaberate Randy, are u refering to the air source? Everything i brand new so im sure will be fine but yea more info would be good please

Brad

I think Randy was referring to the possibility of it being temperamental and prone to free flow. If you can fire the rig up and get at least the Air-2 into a pail of water you may get a sense of it having a hair trigger or not.

Getting it into a pool or a local conservative site would be wise before taking a trip or paying for a boat outing only to be disappointed.

A good bench tech could also check it but nothing beats diving it.

I think so too...

As far as I know, the Airsource is an unbalance 2nd stage; the Legend has an Over-balance 1st stage and Aqualung recommands to pair it with balance 2nd stage to avoid potential free flow at depth.

There is no need to change the IP settings unless it's set too high or low. Yours should be anywhere from 125-145. You can check it yourself by buying a IP gauge online that plugs into your bc inflator hose. You can easily unscrew the metal cover and remove the membrane and load transmitter on top of the legend 1st stage, and using an allen wrench, adjust the regulator's IP to your heart's desire. Make sure to press and release the purge several times on the second stage after making adjustments to ensure an accurate reading on the IP gauge. Let the regulator stay pressurized for a minute or two, making sure the pressure doesn't creep up.

Plug the air source into your inflator hose and listen for leaks, then make sure you can breathe with it. If it works then your ready to go.

Thanks all for the replies i got all the gear now and all seems good i'll take it to a nice local dive tomorrow hopefully to check it all.

When u guys say that it could free flow at depth what kinda depth we talking about?
I'm doing my deep and wreck diving course in a week or 2 and will be going down to about 40m do u think it will be ok?

cheers all,
