Well, i guess a lot of others have had the same comment but here goes. Shells grow on an animal. If you find a dead animal, have at it hoss. otherwise leave it alone so it can breed and leave something for the next diver or, at least, your kids to see. those perfect "shells" came from an animal that was in "perfect" condition alive. likely, had it died naturally, it would have been tossed in the surf and scuffed etc. i personally think most divers are collectors. i am. ive collected lots of things. i understand the desire. i also know what it feels like to purge a collection when you find something better. dont contribute to the problem - there are more than enough news stories out there to indicate that the ocean is unregulated and we should just leave it alone. for me, i hear the sad stories about the land and think too bad, but it would be nice if we could at least leave the ocean alone enough so that it didnt fail.
