 i just got a new scuba pro mask (cheap like $40)and i did the tooth past thing and my mask will fog up after it gets wet inside. i also tried putting some defog on it and it worked until it got wet about 2 times inside sometimes only once. what can i do about it?

Do the toothpaste thingy again.
I rub my defog ( Sea Gold ) on after I setup my gear and then give it a
rinse just before going into the water.

What type of defog are you using????? :06:

Spit is used by some. No tear baby shampoo is good.

Make sure you aren't washing all the defog off during your rinsing.

Repeat the toothpaste (it must be one with the mild abrasive, not a pure gel) soft-scrubb or commercial mask cleaner. I use a toothbrush.

Before trying defog do this:
Clean and rinse in COLD tap water to chill the lenses.
Hold the mask to your mouth and exhale you deepest hottest moistest breath from the bowels of your lungs. If it fogs keep scubing. You'll see where to concentrate.
When you have it dead clean you will hardly need defog and at that point the defog will be very effective.

cant go wrong with toothpaste. not the gel stuff. apply on lenses and only wash em off right before diving. reapply befre every dive. johnsons baby shampoo works just as good.

soft scurb woorks great. i had to do mine about 4 times to get that layer of plastic they put on it. what lds did you get the mask. i see your from chicago.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned spit?
Been using it since dive 1 and it's never failed me yet :).

Some masks seem to be very prone to fogging no matter what you do to them. I've sold on two masks that didn't respond to spitting/defogging agent/etc -after lots of messing about they simply weren't worth the bother trying to sort out (one was in fact a scuba pro), I now have a mask that never seems to give me trouble.
My advice is to put your mask on ebay if it persists in fogging -just get yourself another mask.
