Training is a good place to start, however.

Yep, good point. I didn't get that across in my post. Training combined with ability and talent will make a good diver.

The reason for wanting to go to 50m is quite simple. It is the same reason why Bill Stone was in the Wakulla caves, the same reason Sheck Exley was in the Zacatan, The same reason Nuno Gomes was in the bottom of Bushmans gat That reason ladies and gentleman is curiosity THE NEED TO KNOW and THE NEED TO KNOW goes hand in hand with the THE NEED TO KNOW HOW TO.(otherwise I die) IM A DIVER DAMN IT . so yes I know that there is a hell of a lot of stuff my little deep diver specialty bookie didnt teach me and that is why I put this question up here in the tech forum cuz YOU DUDES KNOW MORE than me and you guys are the only tech divers that I can talk to 24/7 and bother with questions that seem silly to EL Macho divers but freaking important to me Thank you

I read yor first and last post, your ready for your 50 m dive if you have a bigger tank than a 80 cf great, if not the scenerio that you gave of cave, overhead, where doubles.

If you want to do this on your own it's alright, this is merely an opion board. doubles give you alot air, If a single and you come back with 1300 psi from a little shallower dive you'll [robably be alright depends on location and if a wall or are you kicking a slight grade, DON,T go past 1000 psi on turn around at 50 m. no exhaustion at all either.

If Your a diver that you say you are you should know your limits, and return to the surface when you want . Don't make a goal of depth, the goal is air consumption.

I can dive real conservative, at depths my air PSI determines my return.

A "bounce" dive normally refers to a second dive, not the first.

You are thinking about a "spike" dive when you say down and back up on the first dive.

Surface intervals for dives to 130 ft (40 m) or less are normally recommended to be 1 hour or more, with a re-ascent rate of 30 ft (9 m) per minute and a safety stop at 15 ft (4 m) for 3 mins. No spiking.

For deeper, the surface intervals increase, to 2 hours or more. And then your stops would normally begin at 1/2 of your maximum depth, and would continue every 10 ft (3 m) afterwards for at least a minute, if not more, depending on what your deco software tells you.

If you "bounce" then you went in before the passing of the 1 hour interval on the 130 ft dive or before the 2 hour interval on 150 ft (45 m). This can cause you paralysis and/or death, therefore it is not a good idea.

Your next training would normally be advanced nitrox (EAN 25 to 150 ft with EAN 50 for deco) coupled with decompression procedures. After you finish this IANTD or TDI combined course, then you would be ready to do 150 ft (45m) dives for 15 to 20 mins on deco. And your minimum surface interval would be 2 hours, if not 3, and NO bounce diving. FYI.

Anything deeper than 150 ft (45 m) would certainly involve trimix (oxygen, helium, and air) coupled with EAN 50 and 100% O2 for decompression. Some divers set 100 ft (30 m) as where they begin to use trimix.

Pioneering in scuba is pretty much passed now, and we have great training programs for all levels, from shallow at 50 ft (15 m) to very deep at 350 ft (105 m) and rebreathers. It is rather foolish to try to be a pioneer now, and totally unnecessary. Your woody is most likely to pay the price of this kind of foolishness, and then the girls would find you quite boring in your wheelchair from then on.

Responses in these types of threads always fall into two categories. There's the people that say you should never exceed the limits imposed by your training and your experience. Then there are the people that don't see a lack of formal training a big deal and express the opinion that doing deeper dives isn't that big a deal as long as you know some basics and as long as nothing goes wrong.

The reason I'm pointing this out is that, ultimately, when you do a certain dive or not, depends on what you are comfortable with. Some people go and do 50m dives on a single 80 with < 100 dives and no certification past OW. Other people spend years practising, doing courses, learning all they can, etc. before they go to 30m & do their AOW course. All comes down to what you are comfortable with. If you are comfortable bouncing to 50m with no training and are confident you'll come back safe, go ahead and do it and post your experience here when you are done.

Good luck & stay safe.

Hallo fellow dive folk I have decided If done enough 40m dives I want to do a 50m dive with a bottom time of say 3-4 mins. How should I go about doing this I have not done any tech training yet so deco I dont know.

HMMM where can I start my search to do this???????

ps build up dives are my friends

............... :rofl3:

You are absolutely right all the great names in diving did these incredible things. But look at how they did it and when............ with their egos' in check and with a certain experience and back up. I don't know what your experience is exactly, but if you reference these guys, also reference when and how they did these dives.

Just go and sign up for the relevant IANTD and TDI courses that have been outlined in this and other threads as well as on the websites of both agencies.

Or if you want to just go to 50m without the training. Well it's up to you what you do then. This thread alone has several pointers on how you can complete a 50m dive with no proper training.

I don't understand what other information you want/need from the "dudes" in this forum.
