Couldn't I just use a nice looking, warm dive buddy? Isn't it good practice to stay in close contact on land too? :D

It appears that you'll settle for a warm body when a drysuit can be so wonderful. They cost less than a divorce, they don't require cuddling after using and they don't ask questions........

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

I had to hear this from my chiropractor to understand the wisdom in it.

The coldest I've done is 51F, and that was in a drysuit. I think my psychological limit is right about there -- I'm not sure I could stand to see a "4-9" reading.

Good points........I really like that they don't ask questions. And then it does mean that I can have female dive buddies. RATS......... :mouse04: ........I guess the pros outweigh the cons for the drysuit.

in a drysuit i've been to 3degrees(Cent.) but we've had open water studnets in 12degrees and they get through it.

It was about 14F today. Its come down from around 20F over the past couple of weeks. I guess I'll see the tulips next spring.

I've done 6C/43F in a wetsuit. No problem, the changing in the carpark afterwards was...

From 75 degrees up I use a 3mm wetsuit. From 65-75 I use a 6.5 mm wetsuit. Below that I use a drysuit, which is 53 degrees to 65 degrees.

Depends on whether you have a drysuit or not, and if the water temp is the same top to bottom. I've made plenty of wetsuit dives to the bottom of the quarry (42*) and stayed down there for a few minutes (no, not a bounce) before ascending a bit to find some warmer water. In the winter when the thermoclines fade away, I get in the drysuit when the water get to the low 60's. However, if I didn't have a drysuit, I would stick it out a little colder.
