I can relate to the "re-accuring" breakfast routine...Oh too well.
Earned the nickname "chunks" on a trip way down south to Chun Chacaab last spring...I like Sharky better
A few sea sick prevention pointers:
1.) take a sea sick pill EVERY morning at least one hour before getting on the boat. Have also heard that Benedril helps for some reason.
2.) Make sure your stomach stays as full as possible. Get a good, preferably not too greasy breakfast in you. Take something to snack on between dives and after the last one, i usually take breakfast bars, saltines work great also.
3.) hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. and don't over due the caffine in the a.m. (or the alcohol the night before for that matter)
4.) keep your eye on the horizon or even better on the island if possible.
5.) try to keep in some kind of conversation on the boat, sounds funny, but keeping your mind off the thought of getting seasick can really help. also helps to pass time and before you know it it's time to suit up.
The deal with seasickness is that sometimes no matter what you do, it still occationally happens. Although it's one of the worst feelings...EVER! Try to keep a good attatude about it, even laugh it off if you can "oh it happens" with a smile on your face. It really helps.
If you are not dying by the time you get to the dive site, or even if you are close to it. Make yourself suit up and get in the water if at all possible. Chances are the sickness will go away once you are submerged. Remember you can throw up in your reg if you need to, having your octo handy at that time is a good idea
Also, and I know it's embarassing, but go ahead and throw up while on the boat, (over the side please), it will make you feel better (that's when the saltines come in handy, that and water are about all you can get down after that). Then chances are you will feel good enough to suit up and try to get rid of the nasty feeling underwater.
