Has anyone ever been stopped and told the roll-on duffle is too big. Or are the airlines worried more about overweight luggage? Bought a bag that exceeds the limit by a little bit...

Oh. Right. The duffle bag ...

I've not, and mine is spatially a bit too big. They are infinitely more concerned with weight (and weight distribution).

Cool we are flying Airjamacia for the first time and I love to worry ahead of time....

When I fly Continental it's always the weight limit with 50 lbs. max. A few times I have had bags at 52 or 53 lbs and have been asked to relocate items into another bag.
I got hit with an oversize charge ($25) one time but it was a large box that I taking as a piece of checked luggage.

When my wife and I flew Funjet out of Dallas Dec 28th. they never weighed the first bag. A couple that went with us had two bags that weighed 61 and 63 pounds and they never batted an eye. Their website says two bags totaling 44 lbs.

Yes, but weight is the issue. We had to repack redistribute stuff in bags exceeding 50 lbs.

I have run into the 50# limit, last year to Curacao on Continental my bag was overweight by 3 pounds, The ticket agent just slapped an overweight sticker on it and laughed at me. But they didn't charge me. I told him it must be the shoes.....

You will usually run into the weight limit first, but all airlines also have size restrictions. Most of the time the size restriction is based on total size of the bag, as calculated by taking a continuous piece of string to wrap around all sides...so adding the total of Wx2+Dx2+Hx2 type of thing. This is usually outlined on the airlines website.

If you travel enough and get into their Silver, Gold, etc frequent flyer programs you get more weight allowance.

Is there a standard size limitation for airlines or does it vary from airline to airline?
I'm flying to Puerto Rico next month on USAIR and I'll have to check for sizes for my Roller Bag that is 30 X 15 X 12..........

No you are fine, the size is 64" total. I bought one that is 39 x 12 x 15 so I am over by 2"
