How are weight pockets attached to the BP harness?

By the way, which side is the top of the pocket in your picture, the right or the left?

Humm, if the right side is the top, it doesn't leave much room for modifications.
I suggest you go the retainer route and try to install them in the waist strap of your BP one side, and on the other side try on the lower part of the shoulder strap of your harness and see which side is more confortable and easier to use, then reset the less comfortable side accordingly.

There shouldn't be any movement after you install the retainer.

Also I can see some advantage since the pocket will sit lower than mine if you go the waist strap route and this should provide easier acces to them.
