I thinking about a trip to Capo and have been reading treads and googling to try to find out about dive shops and hotels. From what I have found it sounds like Baja Dive would be a good bet. As far as places to stay are concerned, judging from the places I've seen recomended everything cost $250-500.00 a night....way too expensive for this poor guy. There must be some less expensive hotels in Cabo, or have they all been run out by the big fancy resorts?

I usually do an overnight at the Hotel Mar de Cortes, smack in the middle of town and about two blocks away from the Marina area.

It is in the $60-80 range depending on season. The rooms are spacious, clean, and have AC and private bath. They are a bit spartan, there won't be any TV, and sometimes I've necountered mosquitoes inside (they kind go dormant when you have the AC blasting), but the price is right.

There is an outdoor pool and a continental breakfast is included.

Go to NEW Cabo San Lucas Mexico for further info and booking.

I've also stayed at some condos right at the marina but it will take some digging to relocate my contact.

I have stayed in the Mar De Cortez its a basic hotel great location. There is also the Siesta Sutes about $60.00 a nite and has a small kitchen. There are lots of smaller Hotels in the same price range.
I also use Baja Dive Nice boat great Dive masters and all safty gear.
Home.

There are a couple of different websites available that you can rent timeshare units. I stay at Playa Grande...walking distance to marina and a LDS called Amigos del Mar. I think you can rent a one bedroom unit for about $1,000 for the week from an existing owner. If you go through the resort you will pay $250/night for a studio.

Unless you want to go sightseeing you won't need a car. Most everything you need is within walking distance. Last time I went didn't need car for a week.
