I've signed up for a 3 tank dive charter w/ Diver City to dive the S. Grove. Totally psyched as never dove it before.

Looking for recommendations on Motels/hotels close to Divers City in Tavernier. Keys motel was one they recommended.

Would appreciate any comments on Keys motel or if anyone has any recommendations of other hotels close by that are reasonable.

I like the Sunset Cove and Hungry Pelican - adjacent properties ran out of the same office: http://www.sunsetcovebeachresort.com/

Nice, clean place - with a real taste of The Keys. Peilcans, other birds, and even manatees come by to beg for food. 5 to 10 minute drive from Taverneir - 5 miles from Diver City.

Ask for Debbie (phone, as she'd not good on email), tell her I sent you, and ask for a discount. Didn't get to stay there last week, but I did stop in and say Howdy.

Luis,
I stayed at Rock Reef resort 18 months ago, and I was really pleased. It's an older place, but they were in the process of remodeling. It's in the south end of Key Largo. The owners were really nice and accommodating. 800-477-2343 What we really liked about it was there was a small beach behind it. We went as a family, and while I was diving with my two older kids, my wife and youngest son spent the day playing in the water. A real laid back place to stay.

Sorry I can't recommend a place to stay, the ones I've stayed at where all about the same, nothing special that is. I guess you get what you pay for; of course I was just looking for a nice clean place to crash between dives. I am writing however to highly recommend Diver's City. This is a classic example of getting more than you pay for, especially when it comes to service. I dropped my gear off at the shop when I got into town and they had it at the boat ready to go, bright and early the next morning. After the boat got back they were there at the dock waiting and took the gear, washed it and brought it back the next day. And when I had a piston in my regulator blow they fixed it that evening, so it would be ready in time for the next day's diving. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff too. At the end of the week they gave it an extra "get the stink out" wash, dry and pack, for the plane trip back home. All I had to do was pick it up at the shop on my way to the airport. Well that’s my 2 cents worth, I can't vouch for anyone else's experience with them, but mine was "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty" in my book, and they spoiled me for life. I still refer to them as the diving equivalent of a golf caddy; all I had to do was the "Giant Stride" overboard and enjoy the dive.

:snorkels: I think the liveabord mentaltity is finally starting to find itself ashore, and more and more folks would like if not expect a company to go the extra mile these days. There is a lot of competition, and after a couple days on a liveaboard, most people are spoiled. Sounds like Divers City Is doing a great job at keeping the customer very happy It's a two thumbs up for them! :thumbs-up

How about the keys motel, Conch on Inn or Tropic Vista Motels which I'm told are adjacent to Divers City USA?

I'm so looking forward to this. I'm area on bus. so trying to get a couple days of diving in.

I have heard nothing but good things about Divers City USA. They were very accomodating and doing a 3 tank dive off Grove on Fri 16th. I'm also planning on going out with them Sat AM the 17th as well.
