The Barracuda has a great in-town ocean-view spot but that's about it, IMHO. You may "dive all day", but at some point you will want to go back to your room and rest. Good luck with that, with the music and spring break party out your window. The public is invited to everything they offer too, via the no-name bar. The room furnishings are tired and the AC is the old loud aircraft engine kind. I stayed there once and loved the location but doubt I'll ever go back.

We have been going to watch the Carnival parades from Barracuda. It is a bit of dump. Biggest complaint we had, since we spend most of the night on the balcony was the neighbor's AC unit blows all the hot air on our balcony. Of course we have friends who actually like staying there, but my guess is they are the ones:

with the music and spring break party out your window. .

... and don't forget that odd septic smell that permeates the interior spaces.

Try booking directly through Hotel Cozumel's website. By far the best rates I have found for HC, you can include AI if you want, as well as book your diving.

I used to think this also. I now use cheaptickets. I paid $117 AI for 2 in January on cheaptickets. Hotel coz website $155 advanced purchase AI. I paid that rate 2-3 years befor realizing there is cheaper.

Often hotels will negotiate/match if you tell them that you found an online rate lower than their rack rate. You can bet that whatever booking service bought those rooms got them for cheaper than what they are offering them to you for.

That works sometimes, sometime is doesn't, as it's always best to check various sites.
