didn't stay there but stoped in Dec 12 and they were busy rebuiding the back. They were open and are installing a pool. Desk clerk said pool should be done by end of Jan. They also said dive shop and snack bar to be rebuilt by end of Feb. They did seem to be working quite fast.

Thanks Lou. I think that seals it.

Doc Harry:
But all-inclusive Scuba Club is near downtown, has a pool, shore diving, and is relatively inexpensive.
Not to argue with you, just trying to be more specific. Scuba Club isn't ALL inclusive, it is MOSTLY inclusive since alcoholic drinks cost extra there, unlike most All Inclusive resorts. In any case, it is definitely worth considering staying there.

My understanding is that SC does NOT allow other dive ops to pick up at their pier. That rules them out. I'm not interested in the cattle boat experience.

And I would prefer to dine around rather than eat onsite.

Thanks to all for your input.

We used the vrbo website also. But our Dive op reccomended a place that was listed there. That is how we found out about it.

Have you told Aldora what you are looking for and asked what they reccomend?

Yeah, everyone has to decide what are their priorities.

I go to dive, and am not interested in having to search for a place to eat or a dive operator. I want to to park myself somewhere and have everything I want all immediately available on site.

Next year I'll try a different semi-AI resort for a different experience.

BTW, Scuba Club didn't feel like a cattle boat experience. They ran three boats (one large, two small) and were adaptive to our wishes. In evening when we asked, "Where are we going diving tomorrow?" their response was "Where do you want to go diving tomorrow?"

I can relate to wanting to have it onsite. I take my family to PDC in april and I settle for the on-site operators at the AI's where we stay. It's not the best dive experience, but I'm back with the family at the pool in a couple of hours, and I get my daily depth dose. I'm glad you've had good experiences there.

This coming trip we're a foursome, and will probably be the only ones on our boat every day, so there's less chance of being effected by other divers. And Aldora offers steel 100's and 120's for maximum bottom time.:D

you probably will be the only ones on the boat, i know when we went with our friendsand dove with Aldora, we were the only ones on the boat and we loved it that way most of our dives were well over an hour and some were 90 minutes. Our punta sur dive was over an hour. But the last part of the dive was over a sandy area with loads of big star fish. It was awesome. They put me in a Steel 100 and my hubby had the 120 I still had more air than he did when we got back on the boat. I love the steel tanks and dont have to use as much weight either. Kathy

Sorry, chiming in about steel tanks, not hotel choices. The 80's always give me a sore back by the end of the second day. The steel 95's are more comfortable for me. For the comfort more then the air I'd take them over aluminium 80's whenever available.

I have never had a problem with steel tanks and I have back problems. Even though they are heavier you cant tell it in the water accept you dont have to use as much weight.
