Hi Y'all.

I've searched through a ton of threads, and I'm looking for some help finding the right hotel.

I'm planning a trip for 4 divers (all guys) for May, using Aldora as our dive op. We are considering a few small budget hotels, but my only concern is most of them have no place to swim and cool off after our dives. We would like to stay in town, either walking distance to the Aldora dock (which I believe is between Calle 2 & 3 south) or a hotel with a dock (where the hotel/dive op won't flame us for not using them), and a pool and/or beach to swim.

We're not looking for an AI, but would consider one if the hotel-only rate was good.

If we choose a hotel without a pool, are there good places to swim & hang out at?

Thanks, Jack

jack try the Aldora Villa, they have a nice area for snorkeling and swimming in front of the villa and they also have a pool. you can check their website but the pictures have not been updated with the outside renovation yet. We are going in Feb and i will post pictures then. BTW aldora will pick you up in front of the Villa for diving. Kathy in Texas

I liked the Barracuda...nice little beach area, had a little restaurant...and an area on the property to swim....with stairs...etc....i believe, but no pool. It was reasonable and nice. We dove witht Dive Paradise.

I was under the impression that the Aldora Villa is north of town? They're not exactly a budget hotel either, but it looks really nice.

I heard that the Cuda was heavily damaged. Does anyone know if it's reopened?

Yes the Cuda is open but the beachfront terrace dive shop and restaurant are gone. They are rebuilding and putting in a pool. With four guys look at renting a house with a pool. Closest inexpensive AI south of town is Hotel Cozumel, largest pool on island and about 150 a night but bad reviews on food. Who needs pool after diving all day anyway. You can get a house in town for 400-1000 a week and enjoy all the great places to eat and have fun.
www.vrbo.com stands for vacation rental by owner is one site and all the cozumel sites and most operators can tell you about houses the recomend.

Don't know what you consider cheap - it was cheaper for me to fly to Cozumel for 10 days of diving than to drive to Florida for 7 days of diving.

But all-inclusive Scuba Club is near downtown, has a pool, shore diving, and is relatively inexpensive.

We walked past Hotel Barracuda (2 minutes up the street) and into the heart of downtown in about 7 minutes.
