I understand the pros and cons of hose protectors. Has anyone ever experienced or seen a hose failure/problem that arose from NOT using a hose protector?

Ben.

I saw one fail in Cozumel a couple weeks ago right where the metal joined the flexible hose. Completely seperated. That is the type failure that the protector should help with. Woke everybody on the boat real fast.

The downside of the hose protector is that you can't see the connection from the hose barb to the hose. If they are on there for a while, you forget to check the hose. Don't use them anymore, plus they were a PITA to put on the hoses.

Eric

Not having one though can put stress on the connection. I use them on all of mine and do check the connections too.
