Heading back to Kona in three weeks and would like to "Jump the Can" at least once on this upcoming trip-one of my favorite dives in all of Hi-although I understand not all would agree with that location as being that good. Last trip over in Oct 2012, according to my dive op, this particular dive spot was being closely monitored by; I believe the DNR, but not positive on the Authority. My "hosts", who shall remain anonymous, basically said that the days of diving the can were coming to an end due to it being in the harbor boat channel. We sort of had to "fall off" the back of the boat as it slowly drove past the can in order to get the dive in. Fast forward 6 months to now; what is the status of this excellent dive-can it still be legally dove-without swimming to it from the shore? The marker has been in that location for years and I have personally dove it every year for the past 5 years-what is the latest scoop?
