Does anyone know Nitrogen_Junky? Everyone is giving suggestions for Oahu - N_J doesn't say what Island their on...

So...how do you O2 clean your tanks? bacon grease? :rofl3: People worry about this sort of stuff way too much.

Aaron's does have a membrane as well, but they will want to charge you $12 for a new O-ring.

Matt

Yes, I'm sure most of us would do a better job of o2 cleaning, rinsing, and drying our own tanks than most dive shops. That's why I maintain all my own equipment.

Sorry for the delay in response, thanks to all for the great suggestions and everyone must be psychic becasue i do live on Oahu. my only issue with O2 cleaning is from what i have read and understand once you O2 clean your bottles if you put air in them you have to get them O2 cleaned once more unless that air is i believe E grade. i have heard of Arrons but not Breeze, i would be interested to know where Breeze is becasue i live in Waianae. thanks again to all for the warm welcome sharp wit and great info.

You're right -- to a certain extent.

If you O2 clean your tanks, you need to only get them filled by a shop that will put "Modified Grade-E Standard" air in them. This is the same grade that is used to top up the fill when you get a Nitrox fill.

Usually, this is the "standard" air from any shop that will fill Nitrox.

Depending on their process (i.e. membrane, PP-blending or Stik), they may not be as worried about O2 cleaning after the initial.

O2 service = O2 clean
not even close (unless you mean like atomic bomb close)
O2 clean may mearly means an o2 compatable oring
O2 service, complete tear down and cleaning to remove any and all silicon residue, all orings replaced with nitrile or better (non petrolium based) orings, all work done in a "clean enviroment and lubricated with crysto-lube or better
O2 clean could be done in the dive shop, the beach park or in the back of your car

Right.

You forgot to mention that a complete, true O2 service is virtually impossible without a clean room -- something that most regulator manufacturers aren't even maintaining, apparently.

I guess you guys do it differently in Oahu. Around here O2 clean and O2 service are the same thing and it is not just viton o-rings, it involves cleaning the tank/valve parts of hydrocarbons(hence the term "clean"), replacing o-rings w/ Viton and using cristo-lube or some other O2 compatible lube.

I agree.... here o2 clean means the whole valve/tank is clean. not just a few o-rings changed.

Arrons is only going to charge me $8.00 each to fill my HP steel 130's, how awsome is that! What a great price for NITROX in such large volumes!

Or it could be that your avatar says Oahu, HI under it. Welcome to SB and the ohana.
