That would be a nice size one, However, I'm not too sure that that is not a photoshop job. "But".. for real... I've seen one actually leap 6 feet out of the water to snag a large Grey Heron as it flew above the water looking to scoop up a fish down at the Red River. My Wife reports the same thing once while she was out on the Red in an airboat

Those Gar are freaky fish.

This picture is real? I did think it was a hoax. I'm wrong again :11:

What? Out on the Red on an airboat? The next time that happens, I want to be there. I have always wanted to get a better look at the river (other than driving over the I-35 bridge).

Yes. I know it's just one wide red mud channel -- but still, I wouldn't mind seeing more that "river".

Is that picture really real? I suppose it is what with it being confirmed by snopes and all -- but still it does look a might faked somehow.

I do like the pine forest that is so abundant at Broken Bow...........not sure about the fish photo.....but those dudes could be lurking in the depths.....:14:

Here is what I found for the Texas state record for an alligator gar:

Alligator Gar 279 lbs Rio Grande River Bill Valverde 1/10/1951

For some reason, Wikipedia is listing that Rio Grande at 327 lbs. Either way, its a monster.

Has anyone ever actually SEEN one of these things while diving around here?!

Do these things really hang out in Broken Bow?!

TwoBit, we need to talk.:D
