Is Hollis DC2 first stage have anything in common with Apex XTX 200 ? They look almost identical ?! Anyone short review from using DC 2's with 212 second stage ?

Thx,

Nope totally different company, similar layout and design tho. I have used the Oceanic EOS which is the same as the Hollis 212 and it was quite good. It is a good design, from a good company, should be nothing to worry about.

A different company but obviouly a Apeks clone as are a lot of other regs on the market. I have spent some time inspecting the service kits of several of the regs (Hollis was not one of them, they choose to follow the "no kits for you" policy which is why I would not buy a Hollis reg) and they were identical to an official Apeks kit.

I think "clone" is a poor choice of words, and misleads people to believe they are the same with just a different name tag.

1. A cell, group of cells, or organism descended from and genetically identical to a single common ancestor, such as a bacterial colony whose members arose from a single original cell.

They are of similar port configuration and design features. Wholly manufactured by different companies. Not exactly the same.

Hollis is the technical branch of Oceanic. You will find the regulators are based off Oceanic's. Apeks is the technical branch of Aqualung.

Apeks, & many others were independent companies that have been bought out by Air Liquide of France, who own Aqualung. Where some, like US Divers, Seaquest, Technisub, etc, have been completely subsumed into the Aqualung name, others like Apeks, Suunto & Whites operate independently, from their own facilities.

They look similar, but far from identical.
