Hey All,

I am having issues with my Hollis LED3 torch, and wondered if anyone else has experienced the same issue?

The torch, when raised greater than horizontal, starts turning off, or flickering on/off. When it is pointed downward, it works perfectly. Out of water, I have switched it on very briefly, and it works in all directions.

I have checked all the connections, changed the batteries, but the problem persists.

I purchased the torch in the US, but live in Australia. It would cost me more to send it back for warranty than it's worth.

Any suggestions?

does it persist after you remove the rear cap and replace? i find tat with mine it builds a preasure up and will literally blow the rear cap out of my hand if i try to remove it. sounds like a small fire cracker. when the presure builds up it acts weird. from a very feint glow from the bulb to always on or always off. I have actually had to use a wrench to turn the back cap and then of course boom the cap launches like a cork from a bottle.

No, I don't notice it building up pressure. The seal is still good, not been flooded.

I called them today and told them i had problems with back end cover (the switch oprtion) , and told them of hte presure buildup in both my units. They knew nothing about the presure issue but would order 20-30 end pieces and issue tham a part number for consumer repairs.

Is this a rechargeable or does it take std batteries. I had this issue with a couple lights and discovered that the batteries I was using were off gassing. Switched to a different brand and problem went away. Even so I still store my lights with the end cap off. Not Hollis but similar design. Should look into that as for me it was a pressure build up. Happened more.often diving cold water for some.reason.

It takes standard batteries. A friend of mine had the same issue with a BigBlue CF250 using AAA. I went to change the batteries for him and I could feel the pressure when I unscrewed the cap. I too now no longer leave batteries in my torches.

On a side note, I noticed DGX has stopped selling them, wonder if they too have been experiencing problems.

i had at one time so much presure i could not turn the back cap. i got a pair of channel locks and viced teh light. finally the cap turned off and once the last thread cleared it shot across teh room like a champaign cork. The barrerys were standard alkalike AA's. no sign of dammage to the batterys either.
