Holbox Island Whale Sharks

Unless they suddenly change their mind, the Whalesharks will once again descend upon Holbox Island this summer. I've been there many times, and always found the sharks, and have stayed in a bunch of different places. I know how to get there from almost anywhere, who to go on a tour with, and where to eat! So give me a shout. It's definitely an experience you'll never forget and great for families whose kids snorkel because no scuba allowed!

It's a delightful village. I hope they never pave those streets, altho we did appreciate a room with AC. We did get lost driving as maps weren't very good then, arriving late, so afraid that we'd go to bed without a real meal for the day, then off early in the morning on the boat - but were delighted to see all the nice restaurants still open so late. Better maps are available but just in case: Do not take the shortcut from Cancun airport that puts you onto the toll road as you can't exit there...!!

Over the four years I've been there, I've always dealt with a super-friendly local named Wilder aka "Tablas". He runs and owns Glendy Tours. With his outfit, we've had 100% success finding the sharks as well as mantas. He has the best prices on golf cart rentals if you're staying on Holbox long enough, and he has an inside line on places to stay, even when Holbox is crowded with tourists.
