I just don't log dives
I have a HOG 32Lbs wing that is currently mounted on a dive rite Al plate.
I'm looking at switching to a SS plate since I do cold divign in a dry suit.

Does anyone know, aside from a hog plate, what other plates are there will line up with a HOG wing?
I would like the gromets hole and the camband slot to line up.
I'm not interested in a STA.

I use a HOG 32# wing / DSS SS plate and I am a cold water (Great Lakes) diver. If you are looking at drysuit/cold water diving, the DSS shines as you can also add the weight plates to it, taking up to 10# off your waist.

If Bob says the DSS cam band slots line up, then it would be a no brainer for me. They are about $100usd more than a lot of the generic backplates, but they have enough features to make it worthwhile, especially if you are outside of the standard height or width range of normal plate. The other main advantage as said above is the weight plates, which can make the plates anywhere from 6.5-10lbs heavier depending on which size plate you have. Total ballast adjustment vs. aluminum is anywhere from about 11-17lbs with the weight plates which is huge for overall diver comfort. That said, for cold water, I wouldn't discount STA's as the weighted STA's will give you another roughly 6lbs to take off of your weight belt.

.

Probably all of them that have cam-band slots, because the slots on the HOG wing are so long. The holes are probably all the same (11 inches apart).

I run one of my HOG wings on a DSS Plate. The holes are std 11 inch centers. I have the 8lb weight plates (4 per plate) for one of my DSS plates and use them diving singles dry. When I bought my DSS plates 10 years ago they were not as expensive as they are now. While great plates I would not pay that much for one now. My freedom contour plate retails for 200 bucks or so and works very well with the HOG 32 wing. However it's hand finished and the true craftsmanship is evident. For the right price I'd sell one of my DSS plates in a heartbeat since I no longer dive doubles. Don't need both of them. If I ever went back to doubles I'd pick up any steel plate.

Should add that for single tanks, weight pockets on the cam bands work just as well as the plates, are easier to adjust to add just what you need, and are far less expensive. The pockets I sell are 10 bucks each.

And pockets make it much easier to put the cambands over your tank (I add the weights after the camband has been cinched down)

Thanx for the DSS solution.
I'm looking for something cheaper though. less than 100 shipped.

any other plates that have been tried?

I have 2 pockets on my cam band, pockets that I got from Jim when I 1st got a BP.

less than $100CAD shipped is just not going to happen. Hate to burst your bubble on that unless you buy used off of here. The absolute cheapest plate I know of is $75 USD from Dive Gear Express, right at 100CAD, but that is without harness, which is just as expensive... If you buy used it will be difficult to purchase without a wing as well. It might be worth contacting Jim to see what he can do on another Hog plate, but those are $125usd retail, so $170 CAD before harness. DRiS has the backplate/harness combo, but it's $215usd/$290CAD for SS
