Hog Regulator Combo or get something better ???

I dont recall what I paid. But I know rebuilding the the whole setup was more than $100.

Yes I realize any number of things could have caused this leaky problem, but it was the manor in which they handled it that irritated me, not the problem itself. And actually, one good slam from the butt of my C8 light would get the bubbles to stop for a few minutes. Ive never had to resort to beating on my HOGs.. (not that beating on the SP was the right thing to do either)

And as for the mechanic at the LDS...all the more reason to get the HOGs so I can be the monkey.

That has nothing to do with the regs but rather the quality of the work that is done by the LDS. The leak most likely happened due to the seat taking a set, the reg monkey has not accounted for that

But if a reg is high quality and cost effective you can choose replace over repair and eliminate the reg monkey.

If'n it don' werk: smack it!
If'n it still don' werk: smack it wit sumthin bigger and preferbly harder!
If'n it don't fit: force it!
If'n ya can't force it: use a phreakin' hammer.
If'n a hammer don werk: use a bigger phreakin' hammer.
If'n it breaks durin' these here pro-cesses: it was probly jus' junk, ennyways.

So you always chose to replace the car when your tire is shot If it's a seat taking a set the fix takes a minute and costs nowhere near the cost of the second stage.

Doesn't it depend on the price of repair vs. price of purchase?

When was the last time you saw a TV repair shop?

I'd actually guess that a Hog D1 first stage will last longer with no service than its own price in yearly services. Significantly so, in fact.

You can be regardless. Nothing prevents you from servicing your SP regs unless you plan to use them for teaching or in rental fleets.

There are few people on the board who are hardcore DIY and help others sharing knowledge.

A reg is by many orders of magnitude simpler than a TV...

They have fewer tubes and are saltwater tolerant to boot!

I hate to throw anything away. However, when it comes to monitors and TVs, it's an easy decision to make.

I wasnt about to say HOG is easy to work on and Aqualung or ScubaPro or anyone else is hard. I just like that they promote the user working on it vice the LDS.

I hate to throw anything away. However, when it comes to monitors and TVs, it's an easy decision to make.

I guess the TVs are still not on the plateau as the regs and it looks like the new features are still being developed. Having said that I have a 6 year old TV that I do not feel like it's limiting my experience (not that I'm a TV fan). I do not have plans to replace it any time soon.

I also hate to throw anything that is still working just for the sake of the change.
