Hey guys, due to COVID I hung up the regulators for a while but am going to get back into things soon (heading to dive in Australia in a few months). I need to go through my D1 HOG first/second stages and more than likely rebuild them if/when I don't like test results, I see. With that said, the version of my service manual is v. 1.64 2011.12.13. I was curious if anyone knows of a newer version or perhaps any safety revisions/mods made to procedures, lubricants, pressures, torque specs, etc. on the D1s since that came out (a LONG time ago)? Given this has been sitting I have to assume the seats have taken a set and potentially Orings have degraded. I'll find out when i tear it down but any input anyone has would be great.

Thanks much,
Dave

Test them first, they might be ok. Orings likely haven’t degraded and the only thing taking a set might be the second stage seat, which could be adjusted.

I certainly will. I figured the spring pressure on the first stage seat would taken its toll on it over that period of time. I don't know the material of the D1 1st stage seat however.

Are you guys all gradually working up with your tank pressure and seating the seats starting at 500 ish psi and working up? I won't be able to easily do this as I have to rent a tank. I could try to bleed off pressure to stay at 500 to start but i think I'd blow through air too quickly and not be able to do a final adjustment at 3000 psi.

I have never seated a seat and do not bother with IP

You want the latest @rsingler this guy is the greatest

It would be helpful if you could expand on "...and do not bother with IP"

Are you saying that after you rebuild you just set IP once and don't bother cycling it a ton at increasing pressures until you get to 3K psi?

Dave

Nah mate no IP I put it together tune the second by ear like a carby and go

Oh man so maybe thats where the tinnitus came from

But I'm not an IP ignoramus, I do have three gauges probably used them three times two from the same vendor

AND THEY ALL READ DIFFERENTLY

Although when I seal off DS4 regs from ambient installing heavier springs for a much higher IP for MCCR

I work something out

You know years ago I sealed off a mares diaphragm reg with a foreign coin it was South American I think
