HP & inflator off your left side, LP primary on long hose and LP secondary on standard hose with bunge both on your right

Sorry can't find a photo, sure someone else will

Which ports are favoured for which hose in a single tank DIR setup?

Photo would be really appreciated!

I would think that with a lp port at the bottom of the swivel you could use the SP mk25 for a reference:

Compare with sp:

The single Mk 25 should be quite similar to the d1

Thanks guys! I knew the HP and inflator left then 2 LP right part, it was more looking at which ports to use for each hose?!?

DRIS set them up without using the bottom port, just the radial LP ports. I had guessed you might use the bottom port for the long hose and kinda tilt the 1st stage over a little for best hose routing?!? I am alzo using all miflex hoses as well apart from inflator.

their objection was "too low of a price"? :shakehead:
what they really meant was "too low of a profit margin based on a lower price" and that they wouldn't sell as many regulators that are twice as expensive.

Service parts? Edge/Hog sells service parts. Just another excuse on the LDS's part I'd guess. BTW... chances are they arleady have the service parts needed as it uses the same parts as some other brand name regulators.

No, don't get me wrong or misunderstand them. No need to be cynical about this dive shop. The concern was if the price was so low, they were worried there might be cheap parts or other corners cut to make the regs. They also wanted to make sure that whatever reg I bought, they could service it.

Remember, they'd never heard of HOG before I mentioned it to them. They didn't know about its internals or how it was designed until I directed them to a few posts here and on The Tech Diver. I also gave them the number of the manufacturer to call and ask more questions, since I'm sure there's manufacturer/vendor stuff that cannot/should not be discussed publically.

Obviously, those concerns are now resolved and I'm happily awaiting their stock to arrive. :) I am honestly a little surprised, since *I* would be worried about losing sales on the more expensive regs - that's a reality of business and I wouldn't blame them for it. *shrug*.

I'm glad to hear the first stage is a tad heavy; I put extra weight in top pockets on my harness for trim as it is.

Quick report from today's first dive with my new HOG regs. I moved the hoses around to run the long hose out of the 5th port and by turning the reg off vertical a little all the hoses routed really nicely!

Initial impressions are really good. Nice and easy breathing and 2nd stage doesn't feel heavy in the mouth at all. Also seemed to have much less "dry mouth" than I normally get which was nice!! Did my first safety drill with a long hose and it went fine. Passed primary to my buddy who dives an Apeks TX50 and he said he couldn't tell the difference.

YMMV but I'm as happy as a pig in sh… you know what!! Or should that be a HOG in…… :D

Since everyone here has praised the HOG D1 1st and 2nd stage, I bit the bullet and bought my first piece of major gear last night. From DRIS I ordered the HOG D1 Cold 1st stage and D1 2nd stage package with a 32" hose.

I'm really excited to get it. Right now, it's on back order so I have to wait a few weeks, but that's okay as I'm not planning on going diving anytime soon due to college finals. As soon as I dive it, I'll give y'all my impressions.

Not weeks  Don't worry, we will have them in about 2-3 days and ship right to you! You will LOVE them when you get them too!!!

Nice, could you also comment about if it breaths wet if the 2nd stage is inverted n hows the weight of the 2nd stage in the mouth.

Cheers,

SangP

Weight of the 2nd stage in the mouth is a complete non issue!!! I don't remember noticing that at all which is a good thing. I was really concentrating on the way it breathed, making adjustment's to the breathing resistance etc, as well.

I did do a bit of head down but not fully inverted. Reg was not wet while doing that.

Might be out again on Saturday so will fully invert and report back!
