That's because everyone goes to the North and around Cairns, the "popular" places, or perhaps the most advertised. The reef spreads over 2000 kms, and so there are lots of areas to dive that are "uncommercialised" and have a great profusion of marine life.

Any big plans this weekend??

Phil and I are going to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Festival. Very exciting stuff. I'm going to a lecture/class on diving in the St Clair River. It is shore/drift diving and some spots have crazy current.

And then, we are packing for Bonaire.
