Curious to hear about big capacity lift bags in small packages. I currently carry a 75# Carter bungeed to the bottom of my backplate. Probably 8"x4" rolled up.

I suspect at some point physics vs. materials strength takes over. Large amount of lift needs a large volume (aka large size), and strong fabric to keep it from bursting. That amount of strong fabric is only going to be able to get down to a certain size, and barring major advances in materials technology, we're probably about as small as it's going to get for a while.

An interesting way of visualizing what the various forces are on a lift bag is to imagine the lift bag filled with water, surrounded by air, hanging from the attachment point.

For some reason, I find this easier to visualize than the equivalent condition of the bag being filled with air and surrounded by water. Thinking of it as a bag full of water that you carry by the strap helps me recognize how strong the fabric and seams need to be.
