Most of the guys I know who play in the muddiest waters use 10w's. Alot of the people I know who use 35w's cry when vis isn't stellar :)

I just think thats kinda funny.

Thanks again for your additional opinions. Even though there were a few suggestions that 10 W HID is not strong enough, I am going to stick to the majority and my financial limits as well.
Availability of a service is a very good point that I did not even consider before.
Lots of nice dives to all of you

i have two 10 watt dive rites onr with a 4 hour canister and the other with an eight hour. the light IS plenty. (ever light one up one the way home and shine it down the road? it's brighter than you high beams. :0) anyway....
my only concern with my eight hour is that I have more cells to fail if a cell should fail. any way thats my two cents.
take care of your lights and they will take care of you.

Hi Cave Monster,
Thanks a lot for your post. After a quite intensive search I am going to get the old style 4 hr. plug in pack, NiMH, and a focusable 10W head, plus one more battery pack for multiple dives. As the new style of fully sealed canisters has not flooded the market yet, I assume it will be easier to exchange or repair the older style battery pack. On the top of it, there were some issues with lithium packs. Not only do they lose a large percentage of their capacity every year (based on an article) but also some airlines have strict limitations on sizes. I just hope I can still get the old style.
Lots of safe diving
