SeaCure makes a nice molded mouthpiece.

Have your buddy tickle ya. That's supposed to cure the hiccups. Laughing may flood your mask, though.

If my buddy tickles me they might get better aquainted with my dive tool! Sometimes I can control the hiccups with controlled deep breathing but if that doesn't work I tend to get frustrated and might...ummm growl. I suppose I should warn new buddies about both of the aforementioned?
Will hiccups effect my air consumption?

Do they affect your air consumption when not on scuba?

If I'm hiccupping rapidly I find it hard to catch my breath sometimes.

I think that causes hiccups. Might take a swallow of salt water. I bet that's shocking.

I'm sure it will. Less efficient breathing pattern, more dead air, even more CO2 retention possible. Fortunately, I have no seen it mention in DAN accident reports, but I'll run a search.

Ok... on a side note... Is it true that you can only burp while your head is up when you're underwater?

I have been able to burp in pretty much all positions underwater. It really depends on the amount of internal pressure, if it is enough to overcome the differences in water pressure then stand (swim) back!

I belch, cough, and hiccup through my regulator all the time.... wanna share air? :D

I'll share air with ya! But if I need to "offgass" I'm swimming in the lead, and look out for bubbles coming from my fins! :)

No, I'm sure it's your best performing reg. You paid for it, you keep it. I'll appreciate the one less used...

I have forgotten to spit out the little snuf pouch before diving a couple of times. Those do not breath well. Always catch this on the 15 ft review, spit it out, purge the reg well.

:rofl2:

Only if you promise to unzip my drysuit after the dive. :D
