Hi, I'm new to this forum. Have about 15 dives so far, mostly Hawaii and once in Catalina. I'd like to start diving in Monterey. Looking to buy my own equipment so I look forward to your advice! I'll post in the gear section. Thanks, capybara

Heya and welcome to the board!!!!! Your sure to get a ton of useful info on buying gear in the equipment forum, remember to take your time buying. Best wishes to you! :wavey:

Cheers,
Vickie

Hi there and welcome to ScubaBoard! If you have any questions or problems, or you just want to chat, PM me! Otherwise, I hope to get to know you better around the boards! :dazzler1:

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

There is a lot to read about equipment on this board! Take your time. Be ready for the "go for a backplate and wing" suggestions. In fact, it might be a good place to start with when reading through posts about gear. That decision will probably affect others from a "philosophical" standpoint. What I mean is that your reasons for deciding "for" or "against" a backplate and wing will be the same reasons that you will build upon for decisions made for the rest of your rig.

Don't forget to fill out your profile and dive info, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically from your profile, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Welcome to the Board Capybara, glad you found us. I'm sure you will get lots of good advise, but before you post maybe it will be easier to read existing threads on specific equipment (use the search function on the top menu bar).

Lots and lots of safe diving,
Maria

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!

I just got back last night from a weekend of diving off of Alantic Beach NC - on WWII wrecks. Going to DEMA show next weekend, then Key Largo diving next month. Zoom, zoom! :pilot:

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message."

And if you're going to be in Houston Oct 16 - for the DEMA show or any other reason, you're even invited to a SB Bar-B-Q dinner! Click here: http://scubaboard.com/t73366-swampers-bbq-update-and-current-info.html or PM me for assistance in signing up for it. Dee needs to know by the 6th. I wouldn't miss this for anything! :thumb:
