Hello everyone. Just completed my open water cert with my wife and daughter along with other members of our Scout Troop. We did our OW dives at Breakwater in Monterey. I'll probably be doing beginner level dives in the Monterey area as well as Catalina and other So-Cal locations with a yearly trip to Hawaii/Mexico/Caribbean.

I'll also be looking for dive opportunities for the Troop.

Welcome to scubaboard and to the diving hobby. There's lots of great diving in California and Catalina in the peak of summer will feel borderline tropical after diving Monterey in the Spring/early summer. I would especially recommend spending a weekend in Avalon and diving Casino Point.

Welcome. Note there is both a NorCal (incl Monterey/Carmel) and SoCal regional subforum here.

Hi any recommendations for shops that offer guided Scuba? I don't want to be the only one with a guide so if anyone's down - I'm in LA

Congratulations on completing a training course, especially because of doing it with a Scout Troop.

I'm envious of your opportunity to dive the kelp forests...seems like a magical dive experience to me.
