Hello - I am new to ScubaBoard.

Would very much like to hear from anyone who has advice on diving Tioman island from Singapore. I will be going there on the 8th of May and would like to organise a weekend of diving...

Thanks

Gary

I'm just back from Tioman. I flew there from Singapore on Berjaya Air, since I didn't want to spend a whole day getting there. I stayed at the Panuba Inn and dived with Bali Hai divers, which is on the pier at the Panuba. The Panuba is okay. The "SD" rooms are the nicest and newest. Food at the restaurant is okay, but limited, and it's the only place to eat in that bay.

Bali Hai was good. New boat, with good captain and a nice Malaysian DM. I thought the diving was very good - better than Koh Tao I think.

Note that most resorts on Tioman charge higher rates for weekends than weekdays, since a lot of people from KL and Singapore escape to Tioman on the weekend. You'll also want to book in advance if you want a nicer place.

Hi there,

Go find the asia forum - it's listed under travel. If you post your question about singapore there - you will probably get more response. Welcome to scuba board!

Just a quick update (over a year later!)

I Went with a dive club based in Singapore, travelled to ferry by bus with a very short sleep at the ferry port. Stayed in some basic cabins and had a brilliant time! did as much diving as I could (including a night dive) saw loads of marvellous sights, found Nemo and saw my first shark!
