Just got PADI open water certified in August, and been on a couple dives since then. Have some of my own gear, borrowing some as well right now. Need help on picking out some open heel split fins for use in the Puget Sound. Didn't look at your post, just suggest you try as many different styes/brands as you can get a hold off.....And talk to divers in your area [or who dive Puget] to get a good idea of what you'll be comfortable w/and will work best in the enviroment you'll be diving......
