Hey, "DAVY CROCKETT VETERANS" sound off!

What's your story as a "Davy Crockett Veteran" during the The Cold War?

Since it's declassified, I'd like to share some memories, no matter on assignment to a particular division. But, I had my stint with the 3rd ID in West Germany (at the time).

I'd like to trade "quips" with the "DAVY CROCKETT VETERANS" who had a CONUS assignment.

It's possible some of my fellow Cold War veterans are still alive.

Are we a passing bread because of an obsolete weapons system?

You tell me. If I don't get any kind of a "brief bullet" on your experiences.I guess I am now one of a kind.

Is there a color you would like.RED or Green.?:D

Does a "COSMIC ATOMAL" security clearance sound familiar???? Huh...PAL ?

I think that Uncle Ricky Murchison is the only one old enough to remember this weapon system. He keeps going around singing "Rock Island line is the very best line." I think that may be related. We have one friend who was on the Pershings. We call him Scud.

I received a trophy for my Davy Crockett costume on my pony when I was 4 in a Flagstaff, AZ parade. Does that count? It was 1972....

Better to be dead than RED!

I was in the 1st Armor 73-75 and the Marne 77-80. (life member).

My question was not to be a funny one,but had to do with the obvious problems OP had with the text color.

BTW scubahistotian, if you want any off-topic posts removed.please sent a PM.
IMO this is a more serious topic so lets stay on it.

Guys, I guess my message didn't "ring a bell." No really "Davy Crockett Vets" out there. Too bad. Still, I'll take the jokes.

300BAR: Better dead than RED, was a reference to the Cold War, Tailgunner Joe McCarthy era. That's what was being said in the USA referencing opposition to the former Soviet Union Communist push. Another was Commie, Pinko b*****d!

Sorry for the confusion.

You may be the only one here...
Though Navy, I was, however, "Chief, Current Team, Nuclear Operations Plans Section, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe" once upon a time, so I'm well acquainted with the system...
CTSA & all that "burn before reading" stuff.
You must be older than Smedley!
