hey bro I just wanted to tell you that you were correct about the identification of that shark tooth that i showed you at the bbq on saturday. It absolutly was a hemiprestis (snaggle tooth) lower jaw tooth. The other guy was wrong.. sorry other guy collin was right on the money. good call collin. how rare are they ....i wonder......

Yup, other guy (aka Reefguy) was wrong. I've got to go back and look now, evidently I've misclassified some of the teeth I've found.

The other guy is my longest time dive buddy from SB, Jeff!

I was pretty certain I was right, but am always willing to be wrong, especially if Jeff is assisting in an identification as he's got an immense amount of dive experience (local dive expert and all) at Venice Beach and the finds that are possible there. Thanks for posting the confirmation! :D

When yawl want to check out the area for more than just sharks teeth (bones and such) let me know... have I got the spot!

Jeff up for a dive in the bonezone Sunday?

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=148003. You've got to go to the South Florida section, as we still don't have a SW Florida section .

BTW, I took vacation this next week coming up, so I'm gonna (hopefully) hitting the water several times this week. Can I twist your arm?

True, but you missed exactly how emphatically I was wrong :0

Walter:
Fossils can be very difficult to ID, even with a reference right there.

ya its no big deal. I was verry excited about that find because i have well over 2000 teeth from the alhambra site and i had never seen anything like that. hey walt i dident even think it was a tooth at first i thought it was a claw..lol
