Cuttlefish:
Hello! I just got certified-and am planning a trip with my dive buddy to Deerfield Beach- mid September. Any advice/tips?

We picked Deerfield because of the shore diving and seeming low-key-ness. I'm nervous, tho' about the currents and the crowds of beach goers. We also haven't decided on a dive shop.

Greetings from Matt,

Welcome to Scuba Board! I came here to look for help with my scuba diving dream and the response has been fantastic. So, I know you will enjoy being a member here.
There are a lot of nice and informative scuba divers. It's a good place to meet other divers and share experiences and dreams. Take care from Matt. :butnhome:

What a great response!

I'm so tickled- and I HAVE been doing searches on this board to find out more about Deerfield Beach. What I liked about the area (W.Palm, Hollywood, FLauderdale) was that everything seemed to be short distances away- and the descriptions of the dives in rather shallow water seemed nice as well.

My dive buddy has over100 dives, many shore entries, all on the California Coast (Monterey and north of there).

We'll be diving this weekend at the quarry to practice skills- buddy ascent, navigation, tired diver tow etc.

At Deerfield Beach we'll be diving in the slack tides during the day. There's no pressure- if we don't like the area or conditions we'll go somewhere else.

It might be just as cheap to go to the Bahamas- so we're looking at that as another option.

But thanks for the input! I'm so pleased!
