I don’t find that to be common with Henderson. Henderson sizing tends to match street clothing size for most people. Sometimes a Short size works better. I am 5’11” and when I was at 280 I wore a 2XL. I am down to 230 and now wear an XL.
When I started shopping for a wet suit, the owner of my LDS told me I would have to get one larger than what I wore streetwise. I tried on a 2XL and could have worn it, but my wife told me it looked too tight and showed inappropriate bulges so I tried on the 3XL. I'm rather glad I finally went with the 3X since it is not the least bit restrictive in movement nor "too tight" and uncomfortable in certain areas. So I guess body type has a lot to do with it. Due to genetics and also that I've always done rather physical type work, I'm rather muscular although I do have an old guy gut. If I were to lose weight, i would most likely need to go down a size or 2. But at my age, that's not an easy thing to do.
