hi all! Yes,I'm a newbie :shocked2: with lots of questions. First, I've always wanted to scuba dive, I grew up snorkling in the Keys every summer. Unfortunatly, we moved from Florida & scuba diving ended up a blurred, dust covered desire while life happened. Now, with my son:cool2: only having 1 more year of high school after this 1, I've dusted off that old desire. Problem is with college just around corner:(, I'm worried it'll be too costly. ****bottom line- without sacrificing safety, how little can I invest to dive in lake, river, or ocean?:dontknow:
Ty for answering my newbie question. :blinking:

rock bottom experience price is whatever an operator will charge for a "discover scuba dive" which typically involves a shallow dive preceded by varying amounts of instruction from a morning in a pool (better but more costly) to a video and demo in "confined open water" (less than optimal but typically passable)

Either way, the objective is to get under water and see if you catch the bug right?? Statistically DSD's are safe... hundreds of thousands of tourists give it a go every year without too terribly much carnage. I personally prefer the morning pool, afternoon ocean format as it gives a bit better feel/grasp to the few skills which MUST be taught.

most Caribbean resorts offer this for around 100$. What local operators want to conduct their courses will vary ...

Are you asking for rock bottom pricing to pick up a new hobby (lessons, gear etc...) or are you looking to find a rock bottom price on the experience (discover scuba class)?
