Apeks XTX200 or Aqualung Legend Supreme ACD?

i've been reading and there's nothing but praises for these two, based on experience is there anything else you'd like to share to help me choose which would be a better reg?

I am not a fan of the ACD. You may find this thread useful:

My 2 cents is #37 quoted below where the most of the thread address issues of ACD effectiveness.

This may have been covered in an earlier post and I missed it. If so, I apologize.

My biggest reservation to AquaLung's Auto-Closure Device (ACD) is you can't see the inlet filter. Inspecting that filter is important because you never know what particulate matter may have been in the tank. Compressor filters fail, tanks corrode internally, and fill station manifolds and cylinders are rarely assembled in a clean room. Granted, the probability is low that an unnoticed catastrophic clog will occur. However, a slow performance degradation may be worse — especially if you are on vacation and make a lot of shallow dives before making one much deeper.

I have seen one instance where a first stage filter was fully plugged during the first dive due to some very sloppy maintenance. How well do you trust the whole air source system and the people operating it?

I am not much of a fan of the ACD but otherwise either of the 2 regs do nicely. Assuming they are both set up properly, you can not tell the difference in them performance wise. Make your decision based on price and how well you like the hose routing, every thing else is pretty much a wash.

Both are great regs but if you're in the Philippines n you're not even certified, I'll say wait a bit before buying these regs.

Having said that however, my personal reg set is the XTX100 or the FST/XTX100. From a test done some time ago the FST breaths better than the FSR (atx/xtx 200).

You also don't need a legend supreme, cus servicing is going to be more costly due to the cristo lube use inside the reg, not to mention messy.

You could do yourself a favor n just stick with a XTX50 or the legend lx as they breath just as well and are cheaper.

The Legend (as with most current diaphragm first stages) does not use Christolube between the environmental diaphragm and the main diaphragm. Instead, it uses a type of dry piston which transmits pressure to the inner diaphragm.

I'll go crack a glacia or supreme this weekend to see if it's stuffed with lube.

Something else to think about Apeks just calls for an inspection for the first year and rebuild on the second year so if it not going to be covered under warrenty this will save some money in the long run. On the 200 it has a removable orffice set witch is good and bad. If it ever fails all you have to replace is the orffice where as the 100 will need a new body, the bad is the o-ring around it will fail and cause an IP creep. Just my input. Niether of the three talked about above has lube packed in them thaey all 3 are a dry "pistion". Apeks is part of Aqualung same parnet company. I like the Apeks cause I build my own gear and they all use the same kits from a 20-200 xtx or atx. makes it easy to just carry a spare kit.
