Took my laptop to Ontario Canada, dialed-up a local line, no problem - no warning! Stayed on all weekend, and now I have A $191 charge on my credit card.

Called in to object, and they tell me that I did receive a warning, in large letters, on my screen, that there would be extra charges. I didn't, but the agent, then her supervisor all but called me a liar. They say I got a warning; I didn't.

So, what's my recourse? Disputing the charges with my bank, and getting my AOL account turned off? Any drawbacks? AOL offered nothing in relieve.

thanks! :crafty:

don did you tell them that you would dispute the charges and then take your buis elsewere, i have had problems with aol in the past and i switched over to sbc yahoo and have had much better luck, i would not give in on that, they can afford to help a good custormer!! good luck

Now you know why they call it AOHELL....sorry you're having the problems, but they're notorious for crap like this..

Told them I would dispute it with my bank if they didn't resolve this. He told me to go ahead!! :krach:

I've heard many bad stories about AOL. Mobile phones can also be a big problem. It's what they call 'roaming' that they really screw you for. I'm not sure if you'll be able to do much about this now - except take away your future business with them.

Tell bank ASAP

Then, write letter (or email) advising the situation - they should have proof if they sent you anything!

with your credit card, they will have to prove that you authorized it.

sorry to hear DD...

Acually its called AOHell because that was the name of the cracked version of the software that used to open up some of the backdoors on their network. When I beta tested for them and hosted chat rooms (back when you were paid for stuff ;)). It was fun to run both the legal version and illegal version to see the differences.

For a credit card dispute, if they won't rectify it immediately, file a complaint with the credit card company. Let them work it all out, but don't go a day without calling them about it.. they'll conveniently forget while you rack up finance charges.
