bene, non parlo francese, ma parlo Catalan e quell'è più simile al francese che l'italiano è.
Que parles català? Bon, No parlo França, peru comprenc massa què orta llengüe.
ok, now I am just showing off....
Its different here learning spanish, because I learned Spanish in spain. here they don't require you learn the vosotros conjugations, and in spain we use them ALL THE TIME. its a real handicap for americans when they come to spain, because they only know ustedes, which is REALLY formal. also, I have a different accent than most of the other spanish students. I took spanish four my freshman year with all seniors, and it was still an easy class... spanish is really important nowadays- Hispanics make up for the biggest minority in the US. one day, spanish will be alongside english.... that is my speculation.
Catalan is spoken in the Barcelona area. A lot of barcelonians speak spanish, but they don't like to. Franco oppressed the catalan and basque speakers when he was in power, but now since spain has been freed, catalan is claiming ground. its like a mix of spanish and french, closer to the southern france language of Provençal. In my opinion, it the the most beautiful of all the romance languages.
