I think that's his dad's name. I met the "old man" once a couple of years ago. Mike worked with his dad on a TV series last year which showcases his dad's hockey teaching approach. I believe it's running on one of the Canadian channels this summer, but I could be wrong.

Hey, Dave, I see from your profile that you're a deco instructor? I'm working through Wienke's texts on Deco Theory and Technical diving, and hoping to join a deco class in the next few months. Are you teaching on the island? Can you point me toward a web site? I'd love to combine a series of dive classes with a visit to Mike.

PS Amanda: I believe this is what's known as hijacking a thread. Sorry.

For Amanda's sake I will PM you

Hi Amanda
I hear that Comox has a very active club - Pacific Divers Scuba Club. I found an email if you are interested in contacting them..... harman.pa@forces.gc.ca
You've got some awesome diving near by.... be sure to take a day trip to do a couple boat dives at Campbell River with Abyssal Dive Charters
And soon you'll be having a 737 artificial reef to dive on too.

Enjoy!

Hi Amanda, I currently live in Courtenay right now, and I go out everyday i'm not working, i'm originally from the north end of Vancouver Island but have lived here in Courtney since last September, The best dive shop in the area in my personal opinion is Union Bay Dive & Kayak, Sean is a great outgoing guy with a great personality and great deals, I've found Pacific Pro Dive to be a ripoff and the atmosphere is cold, anyways i'm glad to see new divers in the area, i've been having trouble finding dive partners in the area also, so I travel up to Port Mc Neill where my dive boat is moored but I am planning on bringing it up in August, so if your interested lemme know ;)

Welcome to the board!

Benvenuto a bordo!! :sharks:

Hi Amanda. Try the Western Canada section as well on this site. Might find more locals there. I'd love to help, but comox is a little ways from the mainland. Hoping to get up there soon to try a few dives though.

Hello All!
Well, this is my hello, I guess. I'm a 23 year old new diver and learned to dive in the Indian Ocean. Lucklily, I have gotten a lot of dives in and I'm AOW/EAN qualified now and looking for someone to dive with near home.

Looking forwards to talking to you soon

Amanda
