Thanks to everyone who posts such great info it's been helpful several times already. I visited Tonga and Fiji last year and am leaving for Little Cayman in a couple of weeks, however, most of my logged dives have been here in the great desert state of Utah. Fortunately, we do have a couple of good options nearby here in Salt Lake City. Would love to hear from fellow SLC area divers who like to stay active.

Hey D, welcome to ScubaBoard, I din't know there were any divers in Utah, ;) but why not they got a salt lake. Ever dive there?

hey D welcome to the board, always great info to be found on here. Enjoy :balloon

I dived the Homestead Crater! It was pretty cool, er, hot.

The water temperature is 90° plus! It's a geothermal crater with a bottom.

It's also an altitude dive!

I have no idea if there's anywhere else to dive in Utah, but hey, you're only a 12 hour drive from the ocean!

welcome.

You ever seen that lake...?

Howdy and Welcome to SB!

Sounds like you travel well, but I would like to hear about the "good options" there...?

PM me if I can help you with anything here...

Never been in the "Great Salt Lake" , it's very shallow, has incredibly high salinity and smells real bad :> The Crater in Midway is a great option. It's about 65' deep, apprx 92 degrees year round. Not much to see but great for staying active. Other good options are Blue Lake which is 2 hours away from SLC. This was the testing site for the Enola Gay prior to Hiroshima (bomb drop testing). It is a spring fed lake with diving available year round with mild temps max depth 55ft. There are plenty of other options and www.utahdiving.com is the best resource I've found for info on the other lake and river dives.
