Hello from NYC! New to the diving world

The Wife and I recently had an amazing experience arctic snorkling in Norway, and while she quickly found out cold water swims aren't for her, we loved the wild life so much we plan on getting certified and hitting up the warm waters for our first set of dives.

I myself didn't mind the cold but probably should have "warmed her up" to it hahah

Welcome from a native Yonkersite. If you do look to dive locally there is a book you can access online--something like NY/NJ beach diving sites. I did notice some sites were out of date.

Any particular spots you enjoy?

Pleasure Beach near New London, CT is OK.
Noyack Bay out on L.I. is OK.
Fort Pond Bay in Montauk.
No more than 15 feet depth. No parking fees in these places or "sticker" regulations,
which is unusual this neck of the woods.
NJ--manasquan River Railroad Bridge (current)
McClearie Park
Again, no fees these two.
