I recently moved to Key Largo, FL, and I'm beginning the long slow process
of taking the training necessary to eventually become an open water instructor.
I'm currently a PADI Rescue diver, with four PADI specialties:
Peak Performance Buoyancy (highly recommended),
Search and Recovery, Enriched Air, and Wreck diver.
I'm part way through the PADI Deep course.
Next step for me is Divemaster.
My favorite local spot is the Spiegel Grove.
I highly recommend the Quiescence dive shop because they
have very personal service.

welcome to s.b. good luck with your training, dove the spiegel grove with quiescence, very good outfit. just came back from the upper keys a week ago for my daughters salt water checkout. Iwish I live down that way. Ill let ya know heading that way again!

Welcome to the board!

Here are some tips to make your time at Scubaboard a fantastic experience:

1. Fill out your profile. This lets us get to know you! Who knows, maybe there are others out there who share your love of underwater basket weaving!

2. Check out the forum on Scubaboard that is specific to your geographical location.

3. Don't hesitate to ask any dive-related questions you may have. There WILL be someone here who knows the answer. There also may be people who are sarcastic or attempt to make you feel silly for asking questions. Keep in mind that Scubaboard is like a salad bar. Take what you like and leave the rest!

4. When available, really get involved IN PERSON. Several of us regularly attend local functions where we dive and dine together. It really does enhance your Scubaboard experience!

Welcome!

Welcome. Largo is one of my favorite places in the world to dive. I've never dove with Quiescence dive shop but have seen it alot good signage lol, but I do Like the the personal touch. Usually been going with Silent World the new owners are very cool and personable. Besides Captain Bob that pilots one of their boats "knows" the upper Keys. And one of the Instructors/Captains Pat, she is from St. Louis and we were introduced by a mutual friend.

As for Spiegel, Ocean Divers seems to make more runs there. It's nice to know as long as weather is good whatever day it is you can dive it.

Good luck on getting your DM cert done. Also that Master Scuba Diver cert. looks nice also. :)

Welcome to the Board.

We have an active group in Florida. You might want to check out the Florida Conch Divers forum in the Regional Travel and Dive Clubs section. Here is a link http://www.scubaboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

It's a great way to meet fellow Florida Scuba Board people. I look forward to seeing you around.

...and then many months passed,....
I completed my PADI Master SCUBA Diver, then DM then OWSI.
I've been teaching and loving it. I even certified a 10 year old Junior Open Water diver.
I've had a few referrals from up north, and about 7 DSDs (Discover Scuba Diving), the one day
so-called resort course.

Thanks to all for the encouragement.
