Thanks so much for all the kind replies. I'm not sure how the majority of Open Water courses are taught any more, but my wife is doing it completely different than the way I did it. They gave her the course materials and a video and said "Read this, and watch that". This thursday will be class 1, then class 2 will be on Friday. On Saturday will be pool and open water dives, then again on Sunday...and that's it! It must be some kind of accelerated course or something. Anyway, she's read the book and watched the video. So the dives are next...Devils Den - just west of Gainesville.

1. Scuba has become more popular to the recreational diver who wants an easy entry into the sport
2. You have better technology at home to support learning
3. Your local LDS needs to certify more divers to create more new customers for gear
4. Diving clubs, organizations like SB, diving buddies, diving operations, boat charters and diving sites are more availible to the newbie than ever before
