Haha was supposed to say I dive for a living. But I also dive so I don’t get phone calls, emails, or have to talk to people.

Reconnecting with the sea has made me more detached from people if I say so myself
I don't dive for a living but I definitely enjoy the fact that it makes people shut up for once.
Welcome! I really enjoyed that book too, by the way. I read it as a brand-new diver and it not only alerted me to specific risks I never would have thought of, it also shaped my thinking in a subtler, big-picture way. As in, every time I'm about to do something stupid, a little voice says, "this sounds like the start of one of those Diver Down stories..."
