We are new to diving, my wife and I. We took our honeymoon to Cozumel and dove the whole time. We are ready to get in the water but funds and being in Nashville, Tn do not help. We look forward to reading the boards and have gained knowledge already from the descriptive trip reports and answers to other questions. We are looking to go somewhere in April 2005. We will not have much to spend. Any and all sugestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to SB!

You'll probably have better luck finding suggestions if you head over to the travel area of the board and include some more information: what creatures do you like to see, do you like wrecks, do you want a liveaboard, what geographic region, budget etc...the more info you provide, the better the answers!

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
If you'll simply click ScubaBoard.com above, you'll be taken to our long list of forums, a wealth of information and resources.

Airline tickets can be the biggest portion of many dive trips. You might look at driving to the Florida Atlantic coast, Ft.Lauderdale is better, Key Largo is great. You might check out our Florida forum for more along those lines.

Oh, I won't drive my own vehicle more than 100 miles from home. It costs over 25c a mile to drive your own car, i.e. odometer depreciation, transmission servicing, oil changes, tires, wear & tear, etc., and I can always find a new, full-size 4 door rental for $150 a week or so, unlimited mileage. Then if I break down, it's their problem, not mine.

PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message." :thumb:

I'll echo what alcina says here! I'll add to it though that being in TN (go vols!) your also driving distance from FL, AL and LA Gulf coast diving and FL Springs diving. A little further driving can put you FL Eastcoast diving which offers both boat and shore diving.

In TN there are some quarries to dive as well.

No experience needed and it feels great!

Ok, we are prejudice, but this is how we do it. We do the airfare thing on Priceline, we name our own price. Or inquire about a flight from Nashville to Atlanta and take Air Jamaica. Also, staying at one of the smaller local Inns would be inexpensive, and the majority of the are charming and beautiful. Enjoy!

hmmm..... I say take the grayhound to FL, that might work... it all depends on what you are willing to do to travel on a shoestring.

hope you find your solution.... you're in good hands.

Welcome to the board,

Zack
