Hello,

I am having a BBQ with friends (and do some diving before hopefully if the ocean calms down by Sunday) at Heisler Park/Picnic beach in Laguna.

Questions for the board: How early do I need to show up to grab a picnic table and bbq pit? We were thinking about arriving at 8:30-9:00am. Do you think this will be early enough to grab one? I have no idea how fast they fill up.

Second question: Does the "no alcohol" rule only apply to the beach, or the picnic areas too? We were hoping to have a few beers (in plastic cups) while we BBQ.

- Thanks,
MikeT

With the really nice weather, you are taking a chance that the tables are going to be gone. How bad do you want a table?

Sounds like a nice plan---get their earlier, drop someone off then go grab a Starbucks and the Sunday paper and return and chill..:D

You really should get there earlier because now that school is out and summer is here, weekends in Laguna will be a zoo. Be sure to bring quarters for the meters. There really are not any parking lots nearby, so it's all on the street. As for viz, if the beaches are even open for diving by Sunday, the viz will be horrid. Heisler is all fairly shallow diving (about 30-35' mostly) and it's going to be tossed up. There's a Deidrich's Coffee on PCH just a few feet north of Laguna Canyon, and a Coffee Bean in the Boat Canyon shopping center just a few blocks north of that. Get coffee and get there early.
