My thumbnails are 0.017, so that would make the DO 5.88 thumbnails thick and the generic one 3.53 thumbnails. Perhaps kidspot has heavier thumbnails than I.

I was wondering when someone was going to chime in with an "alternate" measuring factor.
I used to keep a thin, fine blond hair in a little envelope that would get pulled out when someone asked for an adjustment of "just a hair".

If you're still looking for a heavier buckle and haven't found exactly what you were looking for, the heavy duty 316 stainless hardware was one of the things I liked about the Deep Outdoors harness(es), and they show their buckles under the "Gear" and then "Hardware" section on their website:
